Star Wars Novels?
Hi, just starting to read Star Wars novels. I'm 35 so don't want to read any of the young people's novels. I'm starting with Tim Zahn's books in the following below. Do people have suggestions about Star Wars adult literature of equal/better standard as from what I can clean there seems to be a fair amount of variation in standard of writing. If possible I wan to try and read the good proper adult novels in some sort of chronology.
Zahn list (I'm putting Outbound Flight second as it ties in with Thrawn)
1. Allegiance
2. Outbound Flight (should this be read prior to Thrawn tri/du/ology or before Survivor's Quest? or doesn't it matter?)
3. Thrawn Triology
4. Thrawn Duology
5. Survivor's Quest.

I would suggest reading Outbound Flight first, if you can. It takes place five years after Episode 1. From there, I'd say you have the chronology correct (Allegiance is between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back).
I would also suggest the Jedi Academy trilogy, as the references to Kyp Durron and Mara's training in the Thrawn Duology (which I'm currently re-reading myself) will make more sense. I, Jedi is an interesting take on some of the same events (if memory serves, it is narrated by Corran Horn). Kevin Anderson is a fairly good author.
After that, it will depend greatly on what era you are interested in. Do you like post-ROTJ or stories set within the trilogies themselves? My reading tends to center around the original trilogy and the inter-trilogy time period as Lord Vader is my favorite character.
If you could provide a bit more direction as to which era you want to read about, I would be happy to supply you with a list of books.
