I dont get it?
Imagine you are flying from Seattle to San Francisco, which is almost exactly due south of Seattle. Should the pilot set a course due south? Explain your answer.
A pilot would use an aeronautical chart and electronic navigation aids to find the destination airport. The primary heading would be close to south (180 degrees), but not exactly.
San Francisco is actually a little bit to the west of Seattle. The exact heading the pilot would fly would depend on winds and the instructions of Air Traffic Control.
You certainly would not fly into the earth if you flew due south; but you would not end up exactly where you want to go. Fortunately, pilots are trained in air navigation.
