Autograph Baseball Photos

I'm trying to find an anime/cartoon from the early 90's.?

English speaking on regular tv in the baltimore maryland area. It was based on "evil" things comming from Mars (robots possibly) that were controlled by one person. There was a guy (young of course) who joined a protection group/agency who had a mecha that fought the evil creatures. Sorry but my memories are a bit hazy. THe mecha was not fully functional, it was damaged and un-fixable. THe kid or mecha had a crystal in its/his chest. The one episode (last one I saw?) had his sister show up (in the desert) and the group figured out that he, her and the evil guy were family. They were the kids of a scientist? who went to Mars. There was a very minor love story (along the lines of he obilious she, from the group, had the beginings of a crush). This is so vague that I haven't found any leads. Help would be greatly appreaciated.
It's not Neon Genesis Evang. that's why this is a bit tricky to figure out.

OMG I just found it I searched for almost 2 hours after reading your question becuase i was looking for it too. Its called teknoman and its available on dvd for like $18. Your description filled in the blanks for me and i am soooo happy now. lol i basically checked avery link at my source until i found the right description adn picture then double checked with a wiki.
