Should the Braves go after Derek Lowe?
Now that they've missed out on Burnett (which I think might be a good thing), should they shell out around $60M to sign Lowe? He's a little old but still durable and can be effective in the NL East.
Their current projected rotation of Vasquez-Jurrjens-Reyes-Campillo isn't good enough to compete with Phillies/Mets.
I would say no.Chances are they will spend the money to get Kawakami.Than I say they need to sign Sheets to a 2 year deal if the price is right.Look they already have there 1-2 punch for the future (Hanson and JJ) so having Sheets for 2 years would be perfect,plus Hudson back late this year.They probably will re-sign Smoltz to a short deal.If 2 of those signings happened you would be looking at possibly 4 different rotations containing of:Sheets,Kawakami,Smolts,JJ,Campillo,and Vasquez.Plus you would possibly have Hudson back for the playoffs.I believe the rotation for the Braves will still be good without Burnett or Lowe.
